MARANO LAGUNARE
A territory of the Venetian Republic for almost 400 years, the historic fishing village of Marano Lagunare is very proud of
its past, which can still be perceived everywhere: in the appearance of the old town centre, in the dialect, in the local economy, which assigns fishing a role of fundamental importance, in the typically maritime gastronomy.
fishing a role of fundamental importance, in the typically maritime gastronomy.
Marano is also the starting point for discovering the lagoon: an area of extraordinary scenic beauty that is home to unique
fauna and flora of great naturalistic value.
It is characterised by marsh vegetation and the uniqueness of temporary fishermen's settlements, the typical 'casoni',
constructions made of reed and wood, which make the Marano Lagoon one of the most interesting places in the Upper Adriatic.
The Valle Canal Novo nature reserve consists of a ex valley from which it takes its name and some arable land. In the reserve, considering its activity in the town of Marano, the lagoon visitor center was built with the Foresteria Cason inside, the lagoon aquarium, a prehistoric area of environmental interaction with the Archaeological Museum, an auditorium and a restaurant.
An innovative and pilot project-proposal on the national scene for environmental conservation and use.
